A number of restaurants have gotten together asking U.S. consumers to participate in “The Great American Takeout” on Tuesday, March 31st to help them overcome the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. Don’t limit yourself to one day however, while you might be spending more time at home than usual, you still can enjoy food from some of the best restaurants around. Splash Magazines Worldwide has put together some of our favorites that have great options not only in the food itself, but how you can pick it up.

If you are looking for a wide variety of to go options, Original Farmers Market shopping and resource guide gives you a snapshot of the grocers that are fully stocked on meat and poultry, fresh produce, eggs, pantry essentials, and specialty foods; as well as the restaurants on-site that are offering family take-home meals. Recent customers have experienced much shorter lines and a less contact with others, all while shopping within an open air environment and supporting local businesses who have taken a massive hit by the current crisis. Du-par’s Restaurant & Bakery, a Farmers Market staple since 1938, has introduced Blue Plate Specials — $40 dinners for 4 — now available for takeout or curbside pick-up. Specials include comforting classics like Chicken Pot Pie, Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings, and a Macaroni & Cheese Casserole. Most specials come with a choice of one whole fruit pie or a full stack of hotcakes. Du-par’s also just launched their famous pancake batter available to-go, so you can make their secret recipe at home.  (Fun fact: The Du-par’s pancake recipe is so treasured that it’s kept in a safe!) Magee’s Kitchen, the Market’s longest standing merchant est. 1934, just launched special DIY taco and enchilada packs, complete with separately packed tortillas, taco shells, rice, beans, guacamole and more, ready to assemble fresh at home. Each pack is $24.95 and feeds 3-4 people. The restaurant also has delicious sides for sale including potato salad, cole slaw, and mac and cheese. Fritzi Coop is re-introducing a to-go menu featuring serve at home meals with hearty options like Chicken Bolognese, Chicken Bite Casserole perfect for the kiddos, and delicious sides like mac and cheese, cole slaw, roasted corn, curly fries, and tater tots. Also, the restaurant is bringing back its fan favorite Naked Fried Chicken, a 24-hour brine chicken without breading, so you can get your fried chicken fix in a healthier way. TOGO: Mickey’s Deli is available to serve the community with their grocery store filled with essentials such as toilet paper, laundry detergent, water, etc and will continue to restock throughout this time for the community. They are also offering to take out, and delivery through our third-party partners, which includes DoorDash, Grubhub, Uber Eats, and Postmates. Michaels Downtown: Italian Kitchen  turned their dinning room into Giuseppes Family Market – an Italian style bodega (like in NY) . Michaels is selling fresh baked breads, pasta, sauces produce, can goods, dairy, meats, wine, beer and more!  If you are looking for a better option than the over crowded and picked through grocery stores, Michaels is doing this to help keep employees employed and working as well as keeping the community fed and the local suppliers working as well.

When it comes to burgers, nothing beats grass-fed and no one does grass fed quite like Burger Boss and they are making it easy to still enjoy their great burgers the way you want them.

Grill Concepts, the parent company of three restaurant brands—Public School Restaurant + Bar, The Grill On The Alley and Daily Grill—with 23 locations in nine states plus the District of Columbia, will take part in the Great American Takeout on Tuesday, March 24 in locations where its restaurants are offering takeout, curbside and delivery during the ‘safer at home” COVID-19 initiative. 

The nationwide Great American Takeout encourages the public to purchase at least one takeout or delivery meal to show support for the restaurant community, which has been one of the hardest hit industries of the COVID-19 fallout.

The Great American Takeout will take place nationwide on March 24 and the public is encouraged to show their support for their local restaurants by getting at least one meal for takeout or delivery.
