Spread the love

Are you looking for a family friendly production to watch this season? While there are many holiday performances available in Chicago, you will definitely want to add The Land of Forgotten Toys to your watch list.

A brand new musical produced by CPA Theatricals, Inc and LCG Entertainment, LLC, in collaboration with Greenhouse Theater Center will play at Greenhouse through December 29.

In this musical about saving Christmas, we are first introduced to heroine Grace (Bre Jacobs) who works at SheToygan, a toy store run by her seemingly prickly Aunt Charlotte (Liz Norton), alongside her co-worker and friend Nikkie (Mary-Margaret Roberts). Grace, who has a passion for astronomy, longs to leave the toy store, go to college, and do something great. Unfortunately, those dreams are dismissed by her aunt.

After her plea to go far away, Grace and Nikki are inexplicably transported to the legendary Land of Forgotten Toys where they meet Cassiopeia (Katie Reid) – Queen of the Northern Sky and leader of the Land of Forgotten Toys. The resident toys are also introduced which include Taxi Transformer (Lucas Crossman), Fun Oven Supreme (Catharine Reyes McNamara) , Game Dude (Jabari Thurman), Karaoke (Brittney Brown), Barbara Doll (Evelyn Crane) and various other toys who remain in the land until they are healed or ready to go to a different child.

Cassiopeia asks for their help as Santa (Randolph Johnson) has gone missing just a couple days before Christmas and fears that Christmas might be in jeapardy. They discover that Santa has been kidnapped by his evil sister, Charlotta, and with the help from Schmedrick, an elf, the group band together to rescue Santa and try and save Christmas before it’s too late.

Running approximately 90 minutes with no intermission, this musical captures everything that makes the holiday season magical. With heart, friendship, humor, family and songs that will tug at your heartstrings, it is perfect for the whole family.
