The day kicked off with DJ’s droppin massive beats while other stages opted for a soft pop intro. The vibe for the day wasn’t defined until French Montana hit the stage and decided to turn it up a notch. Despite being 20 minutes late to his scheduled set start time he got right into it and performed banger after banger. He performed hits like: These Ho’s Ain’t Loyal, All the Way Up, No Limits before giving the audience a taste of his new single, No Stylist. The single, who also has Drake on the track, was released that morning and is sure to be a hot one. Montana ended his performance, which was full of flames, by paying homage to the late Mac Miller.

The high temps didn’t stop attendees from arriving in droves! In addition to the stellar line up LIB has many art installations and activations for attendees to enjoy throughout the festival. One of our favorites was the Bacardi Bay at Atomic Liquor experience. The brand worked with local artists to create a life-size installation titled #TheFutureDoesntSuck, which will promote the brand’s partnership with Lonely Whale and their movement to eliminate plastic waste from our planet. The pledge to remove 1 billion single-use plastic straws by 2020 is underway and people are on board!

Chvrches returned to the festival again this year! Justice got the crowd into dance mode at the Downtown Stage while Daniel Caesar  kept it chill at the Huntridge. New to the game he drew the crowds in with his sultry voice and smooth lyricism. It was a much needed switch in the energy.

The Weeknd closed out day one of the festival with a anti-climatic underwhelming 90 minute set. What he lacked in enthusiasm he always seems to make up for in fashion! Compared to the main act at the other stage, Death Cab For Cutie – both were pretty much a lack luster snooze-fest and not the best way to end the first night of the high energy festival.

The lineup for day two is STACKED! Travis Scott, Florence and the Machine, N.E.R.D, Miguel, DJ Sam Feldt, Cold War Kids are just a few who will take the stage hoping to make up for what may have lacked for night one!

As festival goers walk through dangling lights, enchanting beams and fog streams from stage to stage there is no shortage of excitement at LIB. Now in its 6th year, Life is Beautiful Festival delivers every single time!
